Q. I have 3 children and we are in no way well off. But we are comfortable and want for nothing. I want my children to appreciate what they have and realise that there are those out there who have way less. How do i go about doing that. I try to tell them but i think its more seeing is believing. I want them to be more compassionate and caring as they get older. They are 10, 7 and 5 so i think they are old enough to understand. We're in the poorer neighbourhood school of our city. We're on one income and struggle at times but she see's she's not so bad off when there are kids who come to school with no lunch or snacks. We talk to her about that. It also makes her appreciate what she does have that otherwise she'd of taken for granted. Toys and clothes are either donated or sold at a reasonable cost to make some money back on things they don't use anymore.
