When we are young we are more open to the possibility of fantasy simply because the reality of life hasn't hit us yet, there is a part within us that truly believes that say a man could travel through time and help people who messed up their lives. As we age we get more responsibility and there loose touch with that part of ourselves that could fantasize as we are too busy worrying about bills and kids, teenagers are in a stage of development where they are just starting on the path to becoming an adult therefore don't have the same grasp on reality than say a 50 year old man. A. I would pick out the curtain fabric first so that you get your chosen colors and then use the exact colors in the fabric for paint and other accessories. If you want to make your curtains special add a valance - you can make a simple scarf valance from a length of material which you hang over a drapery rod and fix into place. To avoid having too much matching choose pure white bedding a decorate with tons of fun pillows in different shapes and sizes to match your color scheme and a throw or comforter. Neutral flooring will be fine (e.g. wooden floor) with a colored rug or use a deeper shade of the blue or green for your carpet. Choose a lamp which will go with your scheme or hang some blue or green fairy lights for a fun look around… [cont.]

A. Hi! It's great you want to get organized. I have to tell you, though, please don't start with shopping! Many people think that buying things will solve all of your problems, but often that just makes more clutter. I would start by putting everything in groups, like-with-like. Once you see what you have, decide if you can get rid of or give away anything. Clothes that don't fit, old makeup, old papers, etc. Then decide if you can store anything in other rooms. Old school papers and memorabilia may be able to be stored in boxes in closets or attics, etc. Then start to assign zones for all of your stuff: clothes/shoes, beauty/hair/makeup, homework/books, entertainment, etc. Now, you can go shopping! A. Paint can be very inexpensive. You can find lots of ideas for faux finishes that you can do yourself at www.behr.com. You can also look for interesting pieces at the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Craigslits or garage sales. You may be able to find items for your room that are perfect as-is or perfect with a little fix up such as a coat of paint or some minimal handy work.

A. Well, the prepaid cards first DONT do anything for your credit. Next, they end up costing more than its worth. You have to pay for the card, you have to pay to upload money, and you almost always have to pay per transaction. From a parental perspective, I would assume you wanted to buy something you really shouldnt be buying. Your better route would be to ask your parents to open up a joint checking account with you.

A. Well my room has a colour scheme. I have black funiture with Hot Pink, Lime Green, and Yellow pillows on my bed. I would also suggest making your own pictures/paintings if you wanted some because you get exactly what you want and its fun to do. A. I think $1500 is plenty. If you live near IKEA (or want to shop online) you can find some great stuff for a teen's room and it's pretty cheap. You can also find some really good quality furniture that will work well if you shop a little bit. Because this is a "down economy" there are a lot of furniture store sales going on. When you buy furniture you can negotiate a little bit, too. Ask for free upgrades or a package bargain. Good luck on your move and have fun picking out new furniture!

A. You should do a cooking party then! Where you divide girls into 3 or 4 different groups. The first group can make drinks for example coke floats. The second group makes the appetizer. The third group makes the main meal. The last group gets to make the dessert. Make sure you assign people to groups before the party so there is no fighting. And you should have choices for each group to pick what they want to make. For example, the dessert group can have choices of making brownies, cupcakes, or ice cream sundaes. And then all of you can eat all of the dishes!

I need some tips in decorating a teens room?
Q. The main issue is color of the walls which i picked when i was younger. The walls are a dark purplish pink that don't match or really look good with anything. I don't think I have time, or permission, to re paint the whole room. which would include moving everything out. I've thought about using some big foam stamp and putting some black stars around in my room. But any other ideas? Pain, and decoration tips. I really want to show my love of music in my room.

A. HGTV has a great site section called rate my space where everyday people upload pictures of their rooms. You can get tons of ideas there. If you find a room you really love, you can register for free & ask what wall color was used or where a certain item was purchased. I already set it up to give you the teen oriented girl rooms.
