Why do I have stomach cramps when I take my prenatal vitamins?
Q. So I just started taking these One-a-Day for Woman prenatal pills to help me get pregnant. I'll take one of my 2 set prenatal vitamins right after I eat and once I do, I begin to have these little cramps. Why? Does this mean anything?

You can only take one or the other right? - Prenatal Vitamins or a Multi-Vitamin?
Q. Only one - not both at once or same day right?
Asked by Amanda - Thu May 1 09:58:36 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Correct. If a female is pregnant a prenatal vitamin is the way to go. They are actually weak compared to many Multi-vitamins as the fetus can only take so much of certain nutrients. TW

Will Medicaid pay for prenatal and birth if baby is given up for adoption?
Q. My sister is currently pregnant and her prenatal care is being covered by Medicaid (in Arkansas). My husband and I are planning to adopt her baby right at birth. Will Medicaid still cover the prenatal care and birth expenses, or will we be expected to reimburse these costs?
Asked by MSW - Fri Apr 4 20:13:25 2008 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Absolutely. Medicaid can't deny her coverage because she plans on placing the baby for adoption. In fact, you don't even need to tell the hospital if you didn't want to although its much easier for you to have access to the baby. Good luck!!

Prenatal massage covered by health insurance?
Q. I'm about to be 27 weeks pregnant and I really need/want a prenatal massage. Right now my health insurance (united health care) is currently closed & so is my ob/gyn's office, so I figured I'd ask on here--Do you or have you heard of prenatal massages being covered by your health insurance? I have United Health care to be more specific. Even if it's not, I would get one anyway, but hey, if I could save money, why not ask, right?
Asked by misslissa808 - Sun Sep 23 12:33:11 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Massage is probably covered by your insurance plan to a degree, but only as a part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan, such as physical therapy. Even if covered by insurance, you will need to go to a physician for a prescription for massage stating your diagnosis, frequency (i.e. 3 times per week), and duration (i.e. 6 weeks total) Insurance companies don't like massage in general, so be careful as to how you word it. Avoid terms like "prenatal" massage. Pregnancy is not an illness or disease. Better to describe things as "Need a massage for my low back pain secondary to my pregnancy" Good luck.

Why is it that American men consider their children personal property?
Q. Why is it that American men consider their children personal property? Basically lawyers say that family court only cares about protecting the prenatal rights of the father. Even the law treads children as personal property of their father in the USA. In Japan they say that in most circumstances it is very impolite for a father to see his children after a divorce with out there mothers consent, and any man that does not respect that considers that child personal property. That is Japanese law and culture. Most man politicians in Japan even say the same thing. Those women also will not receive any child support.

A. I believe I just answered your other question, but this one makes the other a bit more clear. Unfortunately for you (I think), this is not Japan. Our legal system currently holds both parents responsible for their children unless one or both have been found to be unfit. Family court cares about protecting the rights of the child, and in this country that includes the child being allowed to see his or her father (if he is not abusive or otherwise an unfit parent). This view is basically the product of many unwed parents and terrible divorces affecting the way that parents take care of their offspring after a separation. Maybe the mother dumps the children on the father, maybe the father abandons the children. In either case, the… [cont.]

Why would a father tell a mother that he would only finically support his daughter if the mother is?
Q. Why would a father tell a mother that he would only finically support his daughter if the mother is willing to give him custody, but mother can still see her any time she wants to? Why would this mother say that this man is a very selfish man, becase he made sure that she only gets about $15.00 in child support. His parents told him that that is the proper way of handling the situation. Other women inform the mother that he is the better parent, but he still exercises his prenatal rights.

Is it possible to overdose on prenatal pills?
Q. In the morning, I'm super tired. I always forget if I've taken a prenatal pill or not. I'm not pregnant anymore, but I AM breastfeeding. I want my daughter to still get all the right nutrients and vitamins in her system. If I accidentally take 2 prenatal pills within an hour of each other, can I overdoes? Is it possible to overdose? *I'm putting it here because I know I'll get accurate answers.

A. Two prenatal vitamins shouldn't hurt you. But yes you can overdose on vitamins so I would just be careful. You would have to take quite a few of them to overdose. I learned all this from a class I went to. A lot of people don't like some of the children vitamins they have out now, like the gummy bear ones and there are some that are bubble gum, because children think they are candy and if they get a hold of them will eat a lot. They can overdose and potentially die from it. So I always warn people who I see that purchase this kind to make sure that you put them somewhere your little one can't get a hold of them. Congrats and good luck!

A. Take them ASAP And you dont need your doctor to prescribe them. You can get them at any drug store out there, including wal-mart. You can even take them before pregnancy to increase fertility.

What should I do if my prenatal vitamins make me sick?
Q. I started out with generic GNC brand prenatal vitamins. Then, my doctor gave me a prescription. But it doesn't help. Whenever I take them, whether in the morning, or right before sleep, I get so sick. I hardly have any morning sickness, but the only time when I throw up is about 10 minutes after I take those vitamins. What can I do? What foods can I eat to supplement for the nutrients that I am missing from my prenates? I started taking a separate folic acid supplement, which doesn't make me sick, but what about all those other vitamins and minerals, especially iron and calcium? How can I supplement without getting so sick?

A. The Flintstone Vitamins even if you take 2, don't give you enough vitamin support for adults...much less for an adult and growing child. In your case, I would highly recommend talking to your doctor and seeing if there is any brand that he would recommend you buying over the counter. Let him know about the brand that you WERE taking from GNC, maybe even bring the bottle if you still have it so he can take a look at it...sometimes doctors can see what is making you sick by reading the labels better than you can. Then I would go with what he recommends. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

Does anyone know of any tasty or healthy alternative to prenatal vitamin pills?
Q. I am new to the whole pregnancy thing. Prenatal pills have a tendency make people sick, so I was looking for alternatives. I have found a few different options like eating the right diet, granola like bars, or even chews. I just don't think I will be comfortable taking those large prenatal vitamin pills. Just wondering if any mom's have tested and or used anything that they could recommend?

I have a question about prenatal vitamins?
Q. I really think I'm pregnant I have every sign, no period, etc. I took a test and it came about negative. I'm planning on taking another one tomorrow but I dont think I'll be sure until I go to the doctor next week. In the mean time should I be taking prenatal vitamins? What would happen if I didn't start taking them right now and I was pregnant? Also, I'm craving oranges alot. So could that mean I need folic acid and I am pregnant?

A. prenatal vitamins are crucial to the health of the baby, especially the folic acid which helps it grow properly. I'd start taking them asap even if you aren't pregnant they are really good for you.

Are prenatal vitamins a good thing to take when you're trying ton conceive?
Q. My fiance and I have decided we're ready for a baby and I'm trying to make sure I have all the right vitamins and minerals in my diet. I still have a lot of prenatal vitamins left over from my first pregnancy, and I was wondering if they were a good source of vitamins and minerals while trying to conceive. My last pregnancy was over a year ago, and I haven't checked the date on the vitamins yet. I'll make sure to check that they're not expired. Thanks everyone!

I was wondering if he legally has the right to be at my prenatal appointments and the birth. I also don't want my child having his last name, I want it to be mine. A. so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks.(if your hair is really healthy then up the trims to about every 12 weeks, a trim is just a snip off the ends) if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the growth part of the e to kick in. the other benefits… [cont.]
