A child (plural: children) is a human being between the stages of birth and puberty. The legal definition of "child" generally refers to a minor, otherwise known as a person younger than the age of majority. "Child" may also describe a relationship with a parent or authority figure, or signify group membership in a clan, tribe, or religion; it can also signify being strongly affected by a specific time, place, or circumstance, as in "a child of nature" or "a child of the Sixties." DefinitionsThe United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child defines a child as "every human being below the age of 16 years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier." Biologically, a child is anyone in the developmental stage of childhood, between infancy and adulthood. Attitudes toward childrenSocial attitudes toward children differ around the world in various cultures. These attitudes have changed over time and in different historical periods. A 1988 study on European attitudes toward the centrality of children found Italy was more child-centric and the Netherlands less child-centric, with other countries (Austria, Great Britain, Ireland, and West Germany) falling in between. From Google News Search: "Children" What is the legal child to adult ratio for a church children's ministry? Q. We supervise children from the ages of 5-12 on Sunday mornings. Usually we have 15-25 children with 2-4 adult workers. In a few weeks we are hosting a conference and are planning on that number being at least doubled. I wanted to find out if there is a legal child to adult ratio for churches who care for children, or if that ratio only applies to daycare centers. I want to make sure we have all our bases covered legally and for the safety of the children. Thanks! We are in Pierce County, Washington State. I live in Anderson,SC and would like to know how many children can I watch in my home without having to be registered? I have 2 children of my own, and am watching my two nieces as well. Thanks! Asked by christina.yost - Mon Jan 26 21:30:42 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think the limit may be 5 or 4 where i live. So i would go around that assumption, my cousin had to register before she could take either the fourth or 5th child. But I am sure if its family and such you wont make that big of difference as long as your not trying ot start a daycare center and publicizing it. Sorry i was of much help, but hopefully i gave you somewhat of an idea! Answered by Rachel - Wed Jan 28 10:27:22 2009 How a website collecting children's information verifies a parental consent e-mail is really sent by parent?
Q. Acording to "The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998" a commercial website requires "verifiable parental consent" before collecting information like e-mail addresses from children. For the internal use of the website, this means getting an e-mail from the parent. The question is how an e-mail can be verified that is realy sent by the parents. Asked by Sina D - Mon May 19 08:55:37 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Usually a website will say "Enter your parent/guardian's email address here" and once that form is submitted, an email is sent to that email address. That email asks for confirmation. But there really is no way of assuring a child enter their parents email, or another one of their own.
