Is relinquishing a child due to poverty the same as relinquishing for any type of financial reason?
Q. I know a big reason children are relinquished for adoption is the mothers (sometimes fathers too, but mothers usually end up bearing the brunt of this) are afraid they don't have the money to raise their children. But there are also studies showing that mothers who relinquish are often in their twenties, educated, and from upper or middle class backgrounds. So I'm wondering... what percentage of these women actually live below the poverty line, and still would even if they received government assistance? And what percentage understandably feel poor in comparison to others, but technically live above the poverty line? Does this require different types of support? Is a woman poor just because she thinks she is? Or is there some kind of… [cont.]

A. It might be perception. I think it's a matter of not having all the facts, resourses, etc. Also, pregnancy hormones, and the sheer panic of bringing a new life into the world. The most "prepared" mothers freak about caring for a baby, raising a child, etc. Then you toss in people who want their baby for their own reasons, and it feeds the woman's fears and confusion. I think there are many, many, many reasons someone would put a baby up for adoption. Money is the poorest reason of them all.

How do I end my speech about child poverty?
Q. I have all the information now I just have to sum it all up. How do I do this!? What should I say?

A. Of course you will have to phrase it yourself in your own words or it would be dishonest and plagiarism, but somehow please include the fact that child poverty is no fault of their own. Been there.

Is it better to kill a child than to let the child live in poverty?
Q. This is a follow up to one of my questions. Someone gave this as a reason for abortion, "There is also the issue of if the mother or parents aren't in the position to emotionally or financially care for it. What quality of life will there be?" So is poverty a reason to abort a baby? Is poverty a reason to kill children who are already outside of the womb? Aren't there orphanages, foster parents and adoptive parents? Isn't there government aid for families?

A. Well certainly if I am the child, I would much prefer being raised in poverty than to be killed before I am even aware of what poverty is. Or to put it more simply, too many people mistakenly believe that you can solve every problem with money. There are many things that money cannot attain among these I list, love and one more minute to your life. And further contrary to popular belief I assert that money cannot remove evil and suffering from the world. Just because you are rich that does not meant that your children will never suffer hatred of an enemy or the betrayal of a friend. If a child has parents who love them and are there for them throughout life's trials and triumphs, then I count them among the richest children in the… [cont.]
