Youth is the time of life between childhood and adulthood (maturity). Definitions of the specific age range that constitutes youth vary. An individual's actual maturity may not correspond to their chronological age, as immature individuals could exist at all ages.

Usage

Around the world the terms "youth", "adolescent", "teenager", and "young person" are interchanged, often meaning the same thing, occasionally differentiated. Youth generally refers to a time of life that is neither childhood nor adulthood, but rather somewhere in-between. Youth also identifies a particular mindset of attitude, as in "He is very youthful". The term youth is also related to being young.

"This world demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the life of ease." - Robert Kennedy

Youth is an alternative word to the scientifically-oriented adolescent and the common terms of teen and teenager. Another common title for youth is young person or young people.

Population aged under 15 years in 2005

However citing recent research studies at the University of Bath, England, it has become apparent that use of the term youth has significantly risen in the Oldland Common area of Bristol.

How can youth be protected from all the negative influences in the media?
Q. What are the so called negative influences in the media? How can the youth be 'protected' from the bad influences? What can be done?

A. The best way to protect youth from negative influences is by providing positive influences in the home. This means that the parents must have strong ethical and moral values and pass them on to their children. Trying to limit the sex, violence, etc. commonly found on the internet, tv, cinema, etc. will not work in isolation. Without positive role models at home, the youth of today will be much more susceptible to these undesirable influences.

Why are so many youth using knives today? Why do they stab innocent people or others?
Q. Could it be that today's youth are just little sissy, chicken livers? They used to use their fists and not KILL. Now they seem to get a thrill in sending others to heaven. I call them slittle babes afraid of their own shadows, like Osama Bin Laden, hiding in a cave and lurking.

A. You can blame society as whole; video games that glamorize killing; rappers that portary it as cool. When I was a kid, the grease boys put on their hair was the most dangerous thing. Our society is out of control. People are lazy and fat; kids are lazy and fat; people have NO repect for themselves or others and take no responsibility for their actions, always balme someone or something else. More physical punishment would deter crime.

A. Scavenger hunts are always fun and can be as simple/easy or as complex/hard as you want. Since it's going to be kids, instead of having a set race course where you have to reach one checkpoint to get the clue to the next one, you could give them multiple clues to different checkpoints, so they don't get stuck if they don't know one of the clues. Then, the team who got to the most checkpoints in the alloted time would be the winner. Anyways, check out: Good luck!
