Where can I find the manufactures recommendations on child safety seats in the Ford Ranger jump seats. I have looked on the website and can't seem to locate the info. I know they don't recommend children riding in those seats but I need the info showing Ford's recommendations. I know it isn't safe. My ex is transporting my car seat age kids in his Ranger, but I need actual documentation saying that it is not recommended by the manufacturer to be able to get him to stop. As far as I know, Ford has not recommended against children or carseats being used in the rear seats. I personally don't reccomend it, but I have been unable to access any "official" ford data that denounces it. On a personal note: I am pleased that your ex is involved in the young children's lives enough to where you have to worry about them being transported in the back seat of a Ranger. Q. I am trying to find out what the rules are in michigan for upgrading a child from an infant seat to a front facing car seat. does the child have to be 1 year and over 20 lbs, or is the weight restriction enough? my son has already passed this weight restriction and I am trying to see if he has to be a year old as well. Asked by piercing_beauty96 - Sat Sep 20 22:55:58 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is a federal law that the child has to be both 1 year and 20 pounds. Babies under 1 year of age do not have sufficient muscle structure to be able to handle a wreck facing forward. There is some newer research that has come out recently that states the child is safest rear facing to 2 years of age.
