Q. So after hundreds of years of burning fossil fuels and increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide, the arctic sea ice is melting to a record low. The international response? You really can't blame oil companies though. they are just supplying what we as consumers demand-- cheap energy for our homes and cars. There is no sign that we will give up our modern lifestye which is based on more and more demands for energy. As for a northern shipping route, hey why not? It will save time and fuel if it becomes feasible. Humans have done self destructive things from the begining, it won't stop now.
