Also, 2 days ago i had white discharge, Could i be pregnant or will i get my period soon>> yes I've had sex. and i have an appointment this week so i was waiting till then There is still a chance even though i took a test and it said negative?? the worrying part is easier said than done.. I do let him go in side of me.. is that the whole point of b.c. is so you dont have to use condoms.. at you make it sound like i'm a little kid and i'm not... 1% of getting pregnant is very unlikely.. A. Even though birth control is a wonderful thing, you have to remember that 1 little % that leave out when saying 99.9% effective..or something like that. I am not trying to make you worry, because worrying is the worst thing that you could do...just incase you are not pregnant, it will cause your period to be late...which will just give you a scare. So my best advice is to relax...keep your mind busy. This has happened to me and my girlfriend a few times. Another thing i am not sure but if you are letting him ejaculate inside of you or not??? really it is your personal business...but just for further notice, it might not be such a great idea..just because you are setting your self up for that 1% chance even more. I would suggest for the… [cont.]

A. It's different for every person. But, if you go into it saying it will be horrible, then it will. Some of my friends had a wonderful pregnancy, while others had troubles. I had some problems at the end, however when you hold that baby in your arms you completely forget and want to do it again :) there are pros and cons. Your feet will swell, you'll feel huge, you'll be emotional, you'll have some cramps as your uterus expands, you'll have trouble sleeping, you'll be nauseous, you'll smell everything strongly... However, when you feel your baby kick and move around inside of you, it's amazing. Plus, people will jump to do things for you, like open doors or get you something, because they don't want you to suddenly go into labor :) … [cont.]

Will home pregnancy tests still work a few months or ever all the way through the pregnancy?
Q. What I mean is, is what they are testing for only present in the first month or so of the pregnancy, or will they still work throughout the pregnancy or at least in the first half or so? Would pregnant women who were 2, 4, 7, 8, and 9 months pregnant get accurate results if they used a home pregnancy test? Thank you guys.

A. Pregnancy tests work based upon the high amounts of hormones we have present in our bodies during pregnancy. They work all through out pregnancy.

First pregnancy I had a delivered early what are my chances for the second pregnancy?
Q. I had to deliver my first baby @ 34 wks on hospital bedrest. How likely will I have to do this again with my second pregancy? Also since I delivered a healthy baby the first time, is there a chance I'll miscarry this time or will I likely have another healthy pregnancy?
Asked by skybrst7 - Thu Feb 25 11:14:29 2010 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments
A. With my first, my son was born 3 weeks early. With my second, I went 2 days over my due date and then begged for an induction. Every pregnancy is different, unless there is a problem with you physically that caused your first to be born early, for example if you have an incompetent cervix. There is always a chance for miscarriage, but again, unless you have some physical problem that makes you prone to miscarriage, the chance for miscarrying isn't any greater this time than any other time. It's normal to freak out and stress! Just remember every pregnancy is different, and take good care of yourself. That's all you can do.

How many pregnancy tests did you take before your 1st appointment?
Q. 33f, not quite 5 weeks pregnant and have this overwhelming fear of miscarriage, even though this is my first pregnancy. My first appointment is not for another month. I have an urge to constantly take pregnancy tests to make sure the baby is still there. Does everyone feel this way, or do I seriously have issues? Please don't say anything mean to stress me out. I really want this baby.

A. You can test positive for a good week after you lose the baby and before you know anything is wrong. You can test positive even after you start bleeding with a miscarriage. Why bother? Stop stressing yourself out, there's no rational reason your body should fail your child, or that the baby should not be viable. Stress is the number one cause of early miscarriage. Get on with your life and stop freaking out, you're only making things worse. Every woman wonders, but you have a choice of either driving yourself nuts and causing problems, or making the purposeful effort to stay busy and keep your mind on other things.

Q. My friend had a blood pregnancy test done 7 to 8 days after possible conception and the result came back negative. She is still having pregnancy symptoms. A. I was told that a blood test can be done 9 days after conception and a urine test not until after the first missed period. I would definetly do a retest.

What are the symptoms of a tubal pregnancy?
Q. A friend of mine has not had her period for over three months. She tests every two weeks and the pregnancy results always come back negative. However, she is concerned that she might have a tubal pregnancy, which-from what I hear-are not shown on a pregnancy test-false readings. She hasn't any signs or anything. However, she does not have insurance and does not want to go to the doctor or hospital unless if she has too-if she has a tubal pregnancy she knows this must be taken care of immediately since this is life-threatening. I neek to know the signs so she and I can be aware of them. Is there a gradual showing of symptoms or do they come at once? Also, how long after conception do these symptoms appear?
Asked by lois r - Wed May 16 08:53:00 2007 - - 6 Answers - 4 Comments
A. With a tubal, there would be intense pain, and by 3 months she would have had symptoms because the size of the baby at this point would have ruptured her fallopian tube. So I seriously doubt it is a tubal pregnancy. Also, you are incorrect that an ectopic pregnancy doesn't show up on a pregnancy test. It does. The embryo is developing and therefore the pregnancy hormone HCG will be present. I do not think your friend is pregnant. But if she hasn't had a period in three months when she has otherwise been regular, she needs to go to the doctor, insurance or no. She could have an STD or other illness that has affected her cycles.

Can signs of pregnancy start to occur within less than a week after intercourse?
Q. Help! A friend of mine was recently involved in sexual activity and is worried she may be pregnant. No more than a day or two after this sexual activity took place she started having splitting headaches, vomiting and experiencing nausea, she noted that these are some traits often accompanied by pregnancy. I have read that signs of pregnancy such as these should not start to occur until at least a week or two after the intercourse, but this information still does not cease the worrying. Is this at all possible? Could she be pregnant? Please help!

A. No, you can't tell you are pregnant immediately. She needs to take a home pregnancy test the day her next period is due.

A. Well I guess it depends. Some people can get a positive result sooner then others. I first tested the day before my missed period and it came out negative and I had had it done at a hospital so it was a blood and urine test. I didn't get a positive result until I was already 7 weeks along.

How long into your pregnancy was it before you started having early pregnancy symptoms?
Q. My husband and I do not use protection and we had sex last week sometime, not sure of the exact date, and I am not sure if what I am feeling could be pregnancy or it is al in my head. My face has been breaking out like crazy and I have more vaginal discharge than normal. Help?

A. It could be pregnancy symptoms. A lot of people will try and tell you that you cannot have symptoms that early, but, YES, you can! I did. I googled early pregnancy signs or symptoms...I can't remember which one and looked on a website and there are some strange things associated with pregnancy that most people don't think of. I would suggest that and go from there. If you are very familiar with your body, you will know if something different is going on. I would wait another week, though and test then. Good luck and baby dust to you!

A. There is no way to know for sure. Pregnancy and how it effects a woman's body is very much an individual thing. But there is a good site that does give helpful info. I track my pregnancy on there weekly. It you look at the top,you can look at how a pregnancy progresses from when a woman ovulates all the way until delivery. And also talks about things that she could go through physically such as symptoms etc. There is also videos that you can watch about labor and birth, and even caring for a newborn. *-->

What pregnancy symptoms did you start to feel BEFORE your missed period?
Q. My period is due on Friday, June 10th, and I'm not feeling ANY pregnancy symptoms yet. As a matter of fact, yesterday I had cramps, which would mean I'm probably expecting my period, and not that I'm pregnant. Obviously I'm TTC, so this kinda worries me. What symptoms did you start to feel before your period, and how far before your period did you feel them?

A. Pregnancy symptoms? I've never been pregnant so I can't answer this. Hahahahahahah! Just Kidding! lol! I love messin with you! Actually, it may still be EARLY to have pregnancy symptoms right now. You have period symptoms a week before your period is do? Hmmm, I mean in a way it all depends on you. Like do your breasts usually get tender and sore during your period? If they do, then no, that wouldn't be a pregnancy sign for you. I mean like period like symptoms that you don't normally get will probably occur due to pregnancy obviously. It all depends on you. I mean if you don't get a positive in your first pregnancy test then wait a couple days and take it again. Sometimes you recieve a false positive, also, make sure you take your… [cont.]

How does an ectopic pregnancy and ovarian cyst affect a home pregnancy test?
Q. Two weeks ago I experienced my first cramps and still am feeling them mostly on the left side. I feel tired. And my period is now 7 days late. But I've taken 4 pregnancy tests in the last 3 days and all are negative, I'm not stressed my school is currently in fall break. My last menstrual was on sept 9.

A. If you are really worried go to the doctor and they can get you checked out to be sure. They can do a blood test and those are usually very accurate. I wouldn't overly stress about it yet, until you know if your pregnant or not. cramping in pregnancy doesn't always mean something bad is happening. also, if you were having an ectopic pregnancy, you would be in alot of horrible stomach pain, and you would most likely be bleeding. but still check with your doctor just to be safe. good luck.

What causes teen girls to ignore a pregnancy until the birth?
Q. I'm talking about the occasional case of a young woman who somehow ignores a pregnancy until a baby suddenly arrives. This often ends in tragedy when the girl panics and abandons the child. What influences could lead to this behavior? 1) On a small scale - what sort of family dynamics might she have, what sort of personality, etc. What might pre-dispose a young woman to ignoring a pregnancy? 2) On a larger scale, is our society somehow leading to this problem? Is there such shame involved with teen pregnancy? Is it a lack of resources for mothers? Is it an emphasis on career over motherhood? Or, could it be an emphasis on avoiding abortion? Any and all ideas are welcome. A pregnancy is often not seen as a blessing, even for… [cont.]

A. speaking as a person who was pregnant I can answer the reasons that I did not tell anyone. Yes I knew I was pregnant. Did I try to ignore it? yes I did. My reason (although I know how stupid they are now) was mainly fear. Fear my mother would disown me, fear my boyfriend would leave me, fear that my friends would no longer want to be around me. Fear that my older sister would kill me. Shame that I had let myself get this way. Fear that people at school would find out. I waited so long to tell an "adult" that a doctor would not see me as I was to far along and had not seen a doctor. The only doctor who would take me was the local health department. Now 17 years later and my daughter I gave birth to is now the age I was when she got… [cont.]

How will pregnancy effect a tattoo on my hip bone?
Q. I'm turning 16 this year and I want to get a tattoo for my birthday. I want to get it on my hip bone and I also want to have children in the future. I wanted to know how a pregnancy would affect my tattoo.

A. First, make sure you are old enough to be allowed to get a tattoo legally in your state. From a practical standpoint, a tattoo on the back or side of your hip will stretch less than one that is more on the belly, but you can expect any of them to stretch some and possibly not go back to normal. Also, make sure that the you know what chemicals are in the ink you are getting and research them online for safety and carcinogenicity before getting that tattoo. The last thing you need is an ink with a toxic chemical in it, especially when you get pregnant.
