What are some research topics that use absolute zero measurements?
Q. I must write a paper on a research topic that uses absolute zero measurements but I can't come up with anything. I am drawing a blank. If someone could just help me think of ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Here is the criteria for my paper: Identify a research issue, problem, or opportunity that uses data that has absolute zero measurements, such as interval and ratio level data. Some examples might include the difference between benefits packages offered by an organization, the feasibility of outsourcing a department such as customer service, the feasibility of hiring more employees when production increases instead of offering overtime pay to existing employees, or the costs associated with moving a home-based business into an… [cont.]

How can one start a career in marketing research?
Q. I have a Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Marketing. I am interested in getting into a career in the market research industry, however I am having difficulty finding jobs in this field. Most jobs for marketing majors seem to be in sales. I do not feel that I have the right personality and strengths to be successfu in sales. I am more of an analytical, detailed, organized person who prefers woking with data and solving problems. I have looked on the major job search sites, but there are not many opportunities for entry-level candidates. I have researched companies who specialize in market research in my area, and I have been on two interviews, but no job offer. Should I start to look in another direction? What type of work could… [cont.]

How does market research apply to property management?
Q. My mom wants to get into property management and the job descriptions all include "market research"? What kind of market research would you do for apartment buildings? She was a property manager for 3 buildings for 27 years and she never did or even heard of such a thing. What kind of background do you have to have?
Asked by madmike858 - Thu Feb 12 22:47:02 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Market research in this case means a basic knowledge of the housing market (rentals) in your area. It might include knowing strategies to improve a complex, or buildings profitability, or how to persuade the tenants to be more timely in their payments. It's not any one skill set, but several. In other words, the days of simply collecting rent are over. But if your mom is a quick study, she might be able to persuade them to give her a try, based on her previous experience. Good luck to her!

When writing a research paper, do you need to cite outside knowledge?
Q. I know that in a research paper, citations must be made for sources. Also, in a DBQ (Document Based Essay), outside information must be cited. So in a research paper, must you cite information that you already knew?
Asked by born2dance94 - Sun Apr 5 15:01:55 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you already know it and most people do too, then it does not have to be cited. If it is knowledge that is only found in a few places or not common knowledge, then cite it for sure.

They do research on public attitudes, survey's...development of new research tools...University of Michigan has the Institute of Social Research...they have been gathering info for years...attitudes toward...xxx fill in the blank. With that they have also validated new survey tools, and methodologies to collect/analyze data. Rutgers has one focus on Public Policy...so data assists policy makers to formulate new legislation. Many others use data from these centers to write grants (just as they use the data from the Bureau of Census, who collects similar data at a larger level).

How do you make your research topic more into a research topic and also interesting?
Q. In my women's studies class we have to come up with a research paper topic that has to do with women in the media. I have a paper topic, which is examining how Tina Fey's character on the TV show 30 Rock, goes against gender stereotypes but I don't really know how to make this into a "Research" topic and what a thesis could be. It sounds kind of boring right now. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

A. your thesis would be pretty much what you said above, that Tina Fey's character on the TV show 30 Rock, goes against gender stereotypes. but the tricky part is not only putting it into your own words. how do you feel about women in the media? answer this question first and honestly. pick about five or more characters and compare and contrast them. Are they all stereotypical or not? How so? Answering these simple yet complex questions will stir you in the right direction in terms of the paper, research many figures in the media and compare and/or contrast those characters with Tina Fey's character. pick maybe two or three others to illustrate your point. your paper can be either how these women defy the stereotypical women we see in the… [cont.]

A. Marine Biology. You can get a B.A. in Biology and later on a Master's and PhD in Marine Biology or Oceanography, though there are also universities that offer B.A.s in Marine Biology as well. "A marine biologist who works as a scientist makes very little to start out, about 25,000 to 30,000 per year, but makes more as they advance in their career, maybe 40,000 or 50,000 or more. There is no set standard, but most scientists do not make a lot of money. Marine biologists who work as teachers, at aquariums, or in industry could make more to start out, and eventually make as much as 75,000 per year. I will probably end up writing my thesis on it, so it shouldn't be something basic and boring. Asked by Penny - Mon Sep 24 21:42:01 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You really need the book Rocket to Riches which you can get by going here: It has a zillion ideas and budgets, etc. and what to sell online, etc. Also, an eBay store only costs 14.95 a month. The main thing about eBay is pick a niche' and focus. Build up your positive feedback by buying some products (even cheap ones). You really do not need any employees because with eBay you can automate everything - even your replies. You will need a PayPal premier business account. And it has lots of merchant and auction tools for free. Hope this helps and hasn't been too confusing. A good place for research is actually your local library. They have tons of eBay business books and software.

Then go through the printed pages and read them and highlight any important parts you want. Then find out pictures. finally, put everything together in a good way with a professional cover with your name on the front page. good luck!!

What would be a good research paper topic with any theme about war, religion, history?
Q. I need a research topic for a collegiate level research paper for my english class. I have interest in war, religion, and/or its effect on the history of a certain place. If not, what other social issues could I talk about in the Philippines. Hopefully there would be a lot of sources so I could make a long one because this would be a major paper. Thanks!
Asked by Jess - Wed Dec 10 08:12:16 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, religion might be good topic, as the Philippines have a major religion: Catholic. This could make your research easier. On that research, you could discuss about the first time that religion came, how it was spread, the figures behind this spreading Other topic is to make a research about their language, Tagalog. This will be interesting because this paper is from English class. So, you might make about the comparing how was the English spread and how was the Tagalog spread.

A. Most likely, you won't be able to find out anything. you can contact the manufacturer. They might be able to at least narrow it down to the city which it was sold in. But otherwise, there were no records kept, unless you know the estate that it was out of, and could contact family that is still left.

How important is research in writing a fictional work based on true events?
Q. How important is research in to correct dates, politics etc., under these circumstances, in your opinion? Do details have to be accurate, or can you convey a 'as long as the general context is right, this is just a ripping good yarn' approach to your work which the reader hopefully picks up on? What do YOU think, your own personal opinion? Cheers!
Asked by Rover - Thu Nov 29 06:37:08 2007 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think it is vital...if you are basing a story on true events then you need to be very accurate...otherwise the reader will quickly realise the premise if false. There is nothing worse than reading a book, even a fiction set in an area of the country you know, than to find the little details are wrong...have you never got a book from the Library and found some people have written corrections in the margin. Look at the Da Vinci code, there are a lot of details in there, which are obviously well researched and add a lot to the book
